Deleting your data
Pointer, published by Team Pointer, lets you delete
what you have shared without deleting your account — and lets you delete the account
itself, with everything in it, whenever you want.
Deleting individual data, keeping your account
Everything below happens in the app, immediately, with no request to make and nobody to ask:
- A photo — Profile → Photos → tap the photo → Delete.
- Your profile photo — Profile → the camera button on the picture → choose another. The old one is replaced.
- A post — Location tab → the bin icon on the post. Older ones: Profile → Past Posts.
- A message — open the conversation → press and hold the message → Delete.
- A whole conversation — open it → menu → Unmatch. The conversation and every message in it are deleted for both people.
- Profile details — your name, gender and date of birth can be edited at any time.
Posts also delete themselves: each one stops being visible 24 hours after it is
published, and only your ten most recent expired posts are kept so you can see your
own history. Older ones are removed automatically.
For anything else — a copy of your data, a correction, or deletion of something not
listed here — write to supportpointer@gmail.com
from the email address on the account. We answer within 30 days.
Deleting your account and everything in it
- In the app — Profile → menu → Delete Account. You are asked to confirm twice.
- Without the app — go to the account deletion page and sign in with your email address and password. You do not need the app installed; this is the route to use if you have uninstalled Pointer or lost your device.
- By email — if you signed in with Google or Apple you have no password, so write to supportpointer@gmail.com from the account's email address. We delete the account within 30 days, and the deletion is identical to the one above.
Deleted immediately and permanently, when the account goes:
- Your profile — name, date of birth, gender
- Every profile and outfit photo you uploaded
- Your location posts and their tags
- Your matches, match requests, conversations and messages
- Your login credentials
There is no waiting period and no undo. The same account cannot be restored later.
What is kept after deletion, and for how long
- Support correspondence — up to 24 months after the issue is closed, so we can answer follow-up questions and defend against claims.
- Server logs — IP address, timestamps and what was requested, kept by our hosting provider for up to 24 months for security monitoring and fault diagnosis.
- Encrypted backups — residual copies can remain for a limited period. They are not restored except for disaster recovery or where the law requires it.
- Anything the law requires us to keep — kept only for as long as that obligation lasts.
The full detail is in our Privacy Policy.
